Does anyone use cheats?

I don't mean glitches, or anything that pisses off others during online games, but rather codes or button presses that you can enter to get infinite ammo, or extra credits or whatever on a single player game.

360Gamer always print a cheats page, but I never use it. I feel a cheat is exactly that - you're cheating, and you're cheating yourself. Even stuff you can unlock fair and square (such as the Lego games' extras) I don't use. I may well have earned the 'right' to use the cheat. but it's still a cheat.

I was stuck on Dead Space a while back on Impossible mode. I was low on ammo and just couldn't get through a room and the temptation to use the 'extra credits' cheat to get more ammo to help me through it was great, but I percevered and managed to get past it. As a result it was a far sweeter feeling than if I'd just cheated my way through it.

However despite this, I've been known to go to GameFAQs from time to time if I'm stuck in a game. But isn't that the same thing? Am I not still cheating?
I don't use codes, as I've said befoe on here, your just cheating yourself of the gaming experience doing that, but I do admit to using GameFAQ's for help.

My gaming time is limited and I don't usually have an enormous amount of free time to discover everything a game can offer, so I use the FAQ site to help me with secret acheivements I haven't discovered etc.

Also, I buy and sell my games on eBay, so keeping a game so I get everything out if it means I get less for it on eBay when I sell it. Having an FAQ for anything I've missed means at least I complete a game and still get a reasonable amount for it when I sell it.
I always play through a game at least twice usually on hard then hardest then use a guide to gather up any collectables or tags etc i missed along the way.
I have tried to use the Cod5 cheat that didnt actually work which changes the gameplay AI from hardest to easy - i think it just unlocked zombie mode if i remember - anyways it was thanks to Voodoo spaceman that i persevered with cod5 and managed to finish on veteran with no cheats...it makes the experience more worthwhile.
Im pretty sure if you do use codes then any achievements will not unlock.

Gone are the days of typing in 60 lines of "pokes" on my spectrum+ to get infinite lives on manic miner.
I havent used a cheat for years.

I also didnt know there were cheats for Dead Space! I'm stuck on a bit and out of ammo but i wont cheat because i'll have no satisfaction doing it then.

But then I also see Dredd's point - eBay. I want to put DS on eBay when i'm done, so if i get stuck on Very Hard and i'm a couple of button taps away from extra ammo, completing the game and getting an extra tenner for it on eBay?? I dont know, but you can see my predicament.
The only thing I used the gameFAQ site for on Dead Space was finding out where the peng treasure was.

I've gotten nearly everything from my 2 previous playthroughs honestly, and my current one will get the "complete game on hard" acheivement along with any other loose ach's I havent picked up, but I know I wouldn't hav e the patience to do a thorough search of the Ishimura to find the peng statue. That said, where you find it was about the only area of the ship I didn't thourghily search.

Ho hum.
I didn't even know what the hell the Peng treasure was supposed to look like, so I didn't know where to begin searching.

I ended up looking on YouTube, so I know where it is, although I haven't got it yet.

Technically it's cheating, but I don't really think of getting hints and tips as a 'cheat'. I try to avoid looking at guides for as long as possible, but sometimes you just have to.
I think cheats died with the last gen really. A bit of a shame, using cheats on your first play through or on a game like Dead Space or wehatever ruins the game, but I do miss having infinite rockets and super speed on GTA etc. Would be great in the free roam multi.
Well using FAQ/Walkthroughs is kind of cheating (especially on games like lara croft, that require puzzle solving), so as such I'm guilty as charged, though I tend to shy away from them now as I've mentioned else where, it was kind of spoiling the games. Dead space as has already been metioned, and that damn peng treasure was the last time I used them... I don't ever activate cheats within a game though as I don't see the point. However there has been one exception, which was COD5, where you can play story mode, with your gun firing paint ball splodges, and revive comrades by shooting them instead. However I did this as a laugh, after I had completed the acheivements / game already.
I don't use cheats either, but I occasionally use a walkthrough. Usually for the second time playing through a game when I'm looking to find objects or secrets to help with the whoring. If I rent a game, then I may turn to a walkthrough if I get sruck for a short time - I find I'm less bothered about getting my monies' worth with rentals. If I buy a game, then I buy it to last.
