I have no doubt that games programmers work hard with play testers to eliminate glitches and bugs, but as games get bigger and bigger it must get virtually impossible to make a 'perfect' piece of software.
Sometimes these glitches are the cause of many angry multiplayer games as some players utilise loopholes in the game engine to gain an advantage.

But this thread is not about that.

This is about the more amusing glitches. Graphical or gameplay farts that fascinate or maybe make you laugh.

I have two to start.

I was playing Battlefield 1943 (you know... for a change) and I suddenly noticed a mysterious black box floating in the air. As I moved it disappeared and reappeared and it was visible even through walls.
I've noticed it a couple more times since and it always seems to be hovering above where vehicles would spawn. I can only assume it's a place-holder for the vehicles and should be invisible, but for some reason every now and again it appears. I even saw it painted with tank textures yesterday.
Weird.

The other one was Fallout 3.
I found on a few occasions that if you fast travelled to an area where you had destroyed any robots, said robots had a tendency to fire hundreds of feet in the air.
Not always fast travel either. I stepped out of a building once and the two Protectrons I had destroyed either side of the door suddenly blasted off and disappeared over the horizon! It was amazing!
Indeed glitches are strange and usually quite amusing things but are there any that help you in your game?
The glitches in Gears can ruin online matches if you let them. Chainsaw glitches can lead you exposed and dead if you dont expect them and crab walking makes folks almost unkillable.
I've never actually played either Gears online, so I never encountered these glitches in particular. I remember you mentioning 'crab walking' on another thread so I'll hunt that down, but what's the chainsaw glitch?

Turns out I'm not alone with the floating cubes on BF1943. Here's a picture from a Youtube video featuring one of them (although this one is grey with goggles):

Spooky.
Yesterday i was playing f3 and I went out of a tent and a radscorpion went flying past me Funny as ! Tongue
Red Faction has glitched, meaning that I can't finish the game. I'm 3, THREE missions from the end. And I was saving all the side quests till the end, and can't go back to them until then due to having cleared all but one zone. Cost me bout 350 gamerscore too, but I'm more annoyed about not getting to finish it.
Have you tried reloading a save or doing something and creating a new save?

I had a similar problem on my Impossible play through on Dead Space. I was dragging the marker through the doors on the last level and on the third (penultimate) door i raised the door but the marker wouldnt go past where the door was. I reloaded and it was still broken.

I loaded again, went out of the room, went back in, saved on a different slot, then quit and reloaded newer save point and it worked ok. I got this advice from a PS3 forum but it saved me playing 9 hours of replaying impossible through to get the last 150G from DS.
I've tried reloading all my saves and wandering around, staying still, doing the few side missions I have available, still nothing. I'll try creating a new save, not much hope though.
Had a few more weird things happen recently.

While playing Dead Space a few weeks back I entered a room (I think it was the senior officer's quarters) and after clearing out a few Pregnants, the physics engine just went mental. All the furniture, the Necromorph remains and anything that wasn't bolted down began sliding slowly across the floor and piling up against the far wall. It was as though the Ishimura had turned into the Poseidon and was rolling over!

By the time I'd moved onto the next room, all of the furniture and body parts had managed to pass through the wall and were all piled up in the next room. Very, very odd.

More Battlefield bugs to report: Stabbed some guy in the back the other day in a bunker and his body shot up through the roof. All I could see were a pair of legs dangling down from the ceiling.

But most disturbing of all: I ran into a machine gun nest/bunker on Iwo Jima and there was a guy bobbing down in front of the window. I'm guessing he was planning on popping up and shooting me in the head as I took up position on the HMG. However I managed to shoot him first, but instead of falling to the ground, his hand got snagged on the top of the window so his lifeless corpse just hung there staring at me with empty hollow eyes (and I mean hollow - he had no eyes at all!). It was truly terrifying and my wife and I screamed in unison. Big Grin
Trying to shoot others while a body is swinging off the front of your gun is not easy, believe me.
On rainbow six vegas two (streets map) if you put a load of infer red sensors in the same spot, you could then jump over them and out of the map!
Greet fun at the time but there was no way to get back in so you had to reload the game.......
