I think I've voiced my meh-ness about the Lego gaems before, but if I haven't, here it is.

I don't consider them "proper" games. They aren't fun, they're just very basic platform games that are only worthy of note because of the source material they cover. No-one would tolerate a game like that if it wasn't an homage to a beloved franchise.

I've based that purely on playing whatever demo has become available on LIVE, for whatever Lego game is being churned out at that time.

But then the wife went and got me Lego Indiana Jones on her Lovefilm thing, and I've just had an hour or so on it...

...and it's even worse than I thought.

How can people enjoy these games ? I've read a lot of the humour of the cut-scenes etc, but they aren't funny. And I've just had a look at the achievement list - achievements for all artefacts, characters collectibles etc etc - the level and a half I played just now was a huge grind, and I can't play it any more, never mind getting all 60-odd characters or 100%-ing the item count.

It's awful. It's boring. Playing this game is like watching Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull.

Back me up on this one guys...
They are pretty shit. I played through one, was worth it for a fiver but I agree, the cut scenes/humour was just terrible.
Never played one, I'm not sure we're their target audience, I haven't got kids but i'm sure it goes down better with them. Lego itself though is so cool! kinda off topic but check out this video someone posted on another forum:

yeah i have the indy lego game and the str wars one. havent played them for long though, first couple of levels and it gets boring very easily. The skip scenes are unskippable which also is a minus point in my book.
I played the first Star Wars game and thought it was ok/funny, but the next one milked it, and the batman and indy stuff ... jesus... i had enough with just trying the demos out! Dirge.
Lego Indy was ok for one quick play, but never got into it fully and have never been interested by the others.
When I bought my Xbox I got four games with it, one of which was Lego Star Wars II. At first I wasn't too enamoured by it, preferring to play Prey (one of the other games). But a few weeks after my initial play I went back to it, and didn't put it down again until I'd 100% it.

I really fell for the simple gameplay, the hidden mini-kits and red blocks to find plus all the unlockables. Being a Star Wars game also helped I suppose, but I really got addicted to it.

When they announced the Indiana Jones edition I snapped it up, but I found they'd changed a few things with it, so although I enjoyed it I struggled to love it. I still played it to death and got all 1000 points out of it though.

Then came Batman and I think I've had enough now. I've played it, but I didn't enjoy it as much as the previous installments. I still have quite a lot left to do.

So in short, I love the Lego games, but I think I've had my fill. I may still get future editions, but it'll be more for my kids who love all three games. I can see the Harry Potter one being a must have for them.
And I'll no doubt play as well.
She got it for me cos I like my Indiana Jones movies and the reviews said it was fun.

It was posted awawy this morning, but she was a little disappointed I didn't play it for longer, cos get this, she said I said I'd play anything for points.

That was like a punch to the kidneys.

Was I once so shallow in my pursuit of gamerscore ? I must have been, she has fantastic recall of everything I've ever said and done, so I've no reason to doubt it, but still...

I'm glad I'm a better man nowadays, walking away from Lego Indiana Jones without actually slogging through it for the sake of a few hundred achievement points.
It's pretty sad to waste your life playing something for imaginary points! I've got Lego Star Wars on the ds and it's ok for train journeys but I wouldn't buy one on a proper console, and the one I have got I haven't done more than a few levels, there's just no challenge to it. I don't know why they keep making them, surely even the target audience must be bored of them by now?
You really know how to knife a guy in the heart Beardo.
