I really enjoyed today's race and that has to be first time I've seen a driver try to power slide into his pit box. A Fantastic drive by Jenson Button and a well deserved race win.
I have to say though that I disagree with Brundle and Couthard, Hamilton deservered that drive through penalty because Di Resta had to go on to the grass to avoid an accident.
Yeah, a truly fantastic race, that one. The fact Vettel came second pretty much seals the championship for him now, I reckon, but if the remaining races are as exciting as the last two, I don't think it'll be too bad.
And yeah, Hamilton's drive-through was deserved. You can't deliberately spin a car around in the middle of a grand prix circuit.
Sorry Dave, I'll have to disagree with you on that. If Hamilton would have stayed still everyone going past would have ended up on the grass, he was across the whole track. I think it was a bad call but to the letter of the law.
That aside it was a good spectators race and agreed a quality drive by Jenson.
Gotta be shitting yourself to be Nick Heidfeld too, I'd be scared to death getting back in that car having been on fire twice already this season!

Sorry Dave I don't buy that argument, At least one driver had already stuck to the racing line and got past Hamilton. And by the letter of the law I'm pretty sure that the driver has to stay where he is untill the track is clear. Hamilton in a post race interview also accepted responsibility and said he hadn't seen Di Resta and went on to say sorry to Di Resta.
Have to agree though about Heifeld I don't think I have ever seen that where a side pod on the car explodes and fire's part of the engine out of the car, It was the Marshal who stood right next to car I feel sorry for, That had to hurt.
I guess we'll have to agree to disagree Dave but if you get a chance to watch a replay of it again, I'm sure the driver that goes through only does because Hamilton has give it the beans to spin it round, clearing the track allowing him to. If the letter of the law is he had to stay where he was, they'd have all been on the grass as I remember it anyway. Either way, the drive-through wasn't enough to have cost him the race.
Yeah that marshal was a lucky bloke, bits of that engine blowing out could've gone anywhere.
I also agree with Podders, if it wasn't sewn up before the race, it probably is now.
I think the drive through was a little harsh. He did cause Di Resta to change direction to avoid the collision but I think Di Resta going off track was a touch cautious. The incident and the punishment were inconsequential in the end anyways. Hamilton's decision to go on inters early ruined his race, and Di Resta went on to do really well. Great win for Jenson of course, always comfortable in them conditions.
Nice to see Lewis humbled in his post race interview. Said the better man won, and admitted he didn't see Di Resta when he spun. Good stuff.
Good race, really enjoyed seeing them all sliding around at the start. I feel Hamilton did deserve the penalty, if he had done that after going off completely it would have been called as an unsafe rejoin.

Rule 20.3 (third paragraph) says basically that you must only rejoin when safe. Adrian Sutil was penalised at Singapore last year after spinning and rejoined forcing someone (i forget who) into an accident.
Hamilton didn't see them my arse !
He wasnt running in last place, there was always going to be someone coming through that chicane. If he can't see 3 cars coming towards him from the left hand side, he need to pop to specsavers.
One car got by him as he was sideways across the track, but to spin your car round as more are oncoming is ridiculous. Fortunately, the track was damp, meaning the tyres didn't quite bite in as the would on a dry track, and he basically pivoted on the one spot - on a dry track, hed have carried some forward motion, meaning if it HAD been dry he woukd have tagged Di Resta.
Alonso found himself in the same kind of situation onthe first corner of a wet race last year, could have been Spa, but instead of spinning round the right way into oncoming traffic, he had to wait until they all passed.
Hamilton was very lucky he got away with a drive through.
Dredd, what are you talking about, biting in a dry track? You're talking about a car delivering 750bhp to the back wheels, the only thing controlling forward motion is the drivers right foot. With all that power, I'm sure they can sit spinning on the spot if they want to!
Technicalities aside, what would have been a fitting punishment if a drive through wasn't enough?
With your view on punishments and your points on overtaking on the other thread, thank fuck you don't have any hand in the governing of the sport

He's a Hamilton hater. Thats all it comes down to. The penalty was perhaps harsh, but justified when taken to the letter of the law. And I suspect some previous incidents were probably considered too, which again I don't agree with.
