Anyone else been watching this?

Future Earth is pretty fucked. Pollution is at lethal levels and the population lives under a police state.
But then a portal to the past is discovered and people are sent back in time to the age of the dinosaurs to start anew and save the human race.

Sounds bollocks, and for the most part it is. It's been slated by quite a few people (although I'm not sure what the general opinion of it is), but I really like it.
It's very 'old-school' in that it gives you a story per episode, like TV used to be before they all decided to tell an epic tale over 7 seasons, pepper it with intrigue that quickly becomes pretentious then let you down with the final episode.
Terra Nova is very mid-90s in feel, even down to the polystyrene sets!

I'm going to keep watching this one. It's nonsense, sure, but a refreshing change after all the 'LOSTs' out there.
ive only seen the first episode so far after seeing a preview i though itd be something id like. the first episode wasnt as impressive as most pilot episodes are. My main gripe during that episode was this big thing to "free dad"..dads free, cue a sudden hidden hatred from son towards dad. lazy lazy writing.
Yes it did seem to come out of nowhere didn't it?

Luckily it didn't last long and it all seems to be happy families at the moment.
Me and mine are also watching it and enjoying it - it's kind of an 'easy' entertainment watch with a couple of series wide story arcs (the sixers, the General's son) but as sample said each episode has it's own tale as well

Kinda reminds me a bit of Stargate in that respect
Ive seen the first three episodes and liked enough to put a series link in for it.
There is something very "LOST" about it.

Visually perhaps, but hopefully not in style.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed LOST at the time, but every show coming out of the US these days has convoluted plots, unlikeable characters and goes on just a little too long.

Terra Nova by contrast just seems, as Duff says, 'Easy' entertainment. I never watched Stargate, but if it was anything like Star Trek (TNG, DS9, Voyager) then yes, that's the feel I get from it too.
I have plans to watch this. Some friends of mine speak highly of it so worth a punt.
Stargate used to be an awesome show (best episode ever - Fruit Loops) but I think MacGyvers ego ruined it towards the end, especially in the way he got Daniel written out.

My TiVo keeps recommending Terra Nova to me, but to be honest, there's not a lot about it I'm interested in. I get the same feeling from this as I did Falling Skies.
I lost interest in Falling Skies by the end. It's fits into that category I mentioned before about unlikeable characters, probably an overlong story etc.

Terra Nova - so far - is not ticking those boxes. It'll be ignored by many I suspect and I'd be amazed if it got a second season just because it doesn't come across as particularly sophisticated.
But that's why I like it. It's just so easy going.
I couldn't tell you what happened in Falling Skies at the end, I'm not even sure I got the last episode or if the 2nD Mass' assault on the big platform thing was cliffhung.

I saw an advert on Sky for Terra Nova about 10 minutes ago, and it didn't win me over. How are they powering those big Humvee looking things ? Cos if you've gone back to the time of the dinosaurs, I'm afraid fossil fuels aren't ready yet....
