RE: Getting To Know You 2 : Knowing more
More than you can possibly imagine. It's not unusual to have a 15 line inscription all done before someone (usually me) notices an apostrophe is in the wrong place or "wondeful" has an "r" missing.
As for unusual stuff, not really had any. Most people are too respectful and go with traditional somber verses and just-the-facts-ma'am stuff like names and dates etc, which is a real shame cos that's people getting "what mum would have liked" etc, but I bet if you had to make your own before you die, they'd be much more representative of the person they are for. Funniest I've seen has been : "Here lie the bones of Johnny Denholm, If ye saw him noo, ye widnae ken him" (you wouldn't know him-it's a Scottish thing) One thing I've never really understood is the overwhelming number of folk getting ceramic photos or laser etched pictures of their dogs on their headstones, but then, I'm not a dog man.

Damn, I was hoping for 'here lies Bill the atheist, all dressed up and no-where to go' and that kind of stuff.
Don't they have someone proof reading? ![]()

have you got one for your other half yet Dredd?
"I married Dredd and all I got was this lousy head stone!" Speaking of head stones, The D&D games for the Sega Mega Drive has funny head stones [link to some pics of them] ![]() "I am a woman of science and Ass kickary, not children's beverages" |

RE: Getting To Know You 2 : Knowing more
You can still slip up at proof reading providing all the letters are present in a word.
For emalpxe, the biarn is siltl albe to see a wrod how it solhud be slepeld as lnog as the fsrit and lsat lterets are the smae. As you can imagine, just one word miss-spelled by having a couple of letters in the wrong place on a big inscription can simply disappear from view. You have to proof read them like you are a child who's just leading to read, by sounding out all the letters, because as adults, we don't "read" as much as recognise a word before us and assume what it says. Takes a bit of getting used to. But then of course, probably the most common thing that goes wrong is customers providing the wrong dates, and we've no way of knowing when someone was born or died, so have to go on the info they give us. I remember one Chinese lady wanted a headstone for her husband and she wanted all Chinese script on it. Boss says, ok, what does it say ? Chinese lady goes, oh, I can't tell you that then ups and walks away.

RE: Getting To Know You 2 : Knowing more
Name - Trevor, but nobody calls me that, not even my 'rents. Trev will do fine
Age - 31 Where - Horton kirby (Kent) Occupation - Conductor (In the old days we were called 'Guards') on the railway Gamertag - BigTrev79 Gamertag Origin - Um, my names Trev and I was born in 79, Genius! The 'Big' comes from me being 6'4" and 19 stone. You DON'T want me falling on you ![]() Your First Achievement - NFS:Most Wanted. Defeat Ho Seun. The first 'boss' battle on Most Wanted. Haven't played Hot Pursuit, but for me MW is still the best NFS game this gen. If you could make everybody buy one game, what would it be ? - Probably Forza, which will surprise at least one person on here. I'd say Forza because it is the best racing game available, and a few more peeps on a Fursday night would be lovely. Favourite game on each of the consoles you've owned Acorn Electron (yes, I'm old): Starship Command. Probably cos the second ship you got looked like the Enterprise. C64: Pitstop II. The game that started my love of racing games. Used to have 12-16 hour sessions on that in school holidays!] NES: TMNT. Ah nostalgia. Never download stuff THIS old on a Wii! Mega Drive: General Chaos. A great, cartoony squad shooter, which had co-op. Heres a little look - http://youtu.be/_aUBiCAm_H4 Saturn: Sega Rally. I even saved up for a steering wheel for that. Loved it! PS1: F1'97. STILL the best F1 game ever. PS2: GTA San Andreas. Funny, big and well crafted. GTA IV could have learned more from its older brother y'know. Xbox: PGR2 The reason I bought an Xbox 360: Fallout 3. Or New Vegas. No, definitely 3. Just epic. 8 playthroughs, the longest being over 130 hours, and I still found new stuff on the last playthrough! Can't wait for a proper Fallout 4 using the new engine that Elder Scrolls 5 will have. ![]()
