So, gonna get on the bandwagon with one of these, not looked into either properly yet but interested in hearing pro/cons of either from anyone who's subscribed.

RE: Lovefilm vs Netflix
i used to use Lovefilm b4 they where bought out by amazon...had no problems with dvds through post or watching the films on laptop...you complain about something and there customer service was great...free dvds etc....

netflix is cheaper..but i would go with a free trial with lovefilm...than netflix (if they do one)...& then make your decision...

netflix i have never used but arnt they cheaper...?

Retro I do too but nothing filled the one-stop shop since the demise of BT Junkie. I like the idea of having a big back catalogue at your fingertips without having to wait for download.

Liono, I think Netflix is a quid dearer. I'm not arsed about saving a couple of quid here or there, I just want the best selection, preferably HD and decent customer service.

I'll do some research.

Arent you in theory though using the same bandwidth the stream and view these things? or is lovefilm where they send the dvds in post? if im using the same amount of band id rather keep the film rather than rent it.

RE: Lovefilm vs Netflix
Lovefilm is, in my opinion, better for selection than Netflix.

Had a look at the Netflix catalogue and it just didn't do as much for me.

Lovefilm has a lot of tv shows on it too, the wife and I are doing a LOST-athon where we are watching every episode of LOST as all 6 series are up there.

With both of the services, don't expect the latest releases either like you would at the top 20 shelves in blockbuster, you need to use ZUNE for that, as well as for HD stuff. ZUNE is faultless for HD delivery, but pricey in MS points.

I can't quite recall if there are HD options on Lovefilm but there are no stutters or issues on my 20 meg line for HD content from ZUNE, so SD content from Lovefilm is equally fault free.

Keep in mind that if you've signed up to the Xbox Live Rewards program, signing up for a free trial of Netflix nets you 100 MS points, so it's beneficial to boot both Netflix and Lovefilm up yourself on the xbox so you can decde properly for yourself, and make a little something out of it yourself.

I'll get em both on a trial then, what's the deal with Zune though, I thought that was just a player, is that a subscription service too?

RE: Lovefilm vs Netflix
Nah, it's a movie rental service basically, but features new releases like you would see at blockbuster.

HD versions of a film cost 580 MS points, SD versions are 490 MS points.

Or 590 and 480, I'm never entirely sure which is which, but either way, it eats into your precious MS points JUST as a killer bit of DLC or must buy Arcade Game comes out.

Handy.
