Not sure either to ditch my soon to be dying 360, and replace it with another, Or jump on the Sony bandwaggon and get myself a PS3.

I'm temped to stay with 360 cause i know the whole "Live" thing is great, and the game's due out look wicked.
I just don't like the whole 360 breakdown stuff, Currently getting 2 red light's (which is weird. as i only happend to 2 game's which i took back and seems fine now with my older game's)
Thinking of getting rid of, before it turn's to 3 red light's.

Thinking of PS3 cause... it almost has the same selection of game's, and i don't think there any major faults which occur to most owner's.

So if you own a PS3 (and) 360, which would you keep if you had to ditch 1, and why?

RE: If you had 1 choice, PS3 or Xbox 360?
Ok, so here's where I currently stand...

I love my 360. I've made many good friends, Live is brilliant and own some great games. I also think the future is bright, with exactly the same games coming out as on the ps3. But now I've got the dreaded 3 lights, and although I feel lucky that it hasn't happened until now (yeah! lucky that something I bought for £300 actually kept working!) I now wonder whether I want to go down the merry road of repairing, repairing, repairing that I hear so many others do. I'm not lazy to get it fixed, I just don't want something else to have to keep sorting out when I've got better things to do, and if the ps3 is as reliable as my ps2 and ps1 then that's perfect. Unfortunately, I stand by my thoughts that ps3 is overpriced, and there seems little to no inovation other than blu-ray and that's not important to me anyway. But if I can play the same games, and not have to worry about it going wrong then it has to be considered. I'm not gonna rush any decisions, but I'll check out what the repair cost for my 360 is and figure my next move from there. If I was to jump ship, I'd try and wait until christmas anyway in case there's a price cut as I wouldn't want anything in particular until pes/fifa anyway.

Oh, and I'd hope that if I went ps3 that I could catch up on friends here that make the transition too...

...listen to me! It sounds like I've decided already! The funny thing is that I truely believe that if my 360 worked and didn't have the potential for going wrong again, then I'd easily stick with that over the ps3.

Decisions, decisions! Sad

Re: If you had 1 choice, PS3 or Xbox 360?
The only downer's for me about getting a PS3 is...... Apparently there's not a friends list in action (not sure if this is true), Too expensive for the console (but Game's seem to be cheeper than 360), No one i know own's a PS3, Ive Googled which is better 360 Or PS3, and got a pretty good review from a game's developer who works on both, and he strongly say's 360 is mile's better, And i KNOW this one sounds silly but im just getting into the Achiviement thing and i don't think i would like to play PS3 game's without earning that little game bonus, i think it add's somthing special to next gen gaming.

Downers for 360..... Not that reliable!

I agree with all those points, and it seems silly to think achievements add weight to the arguement but they do for me too! I guess I'll see what I can do to sort the 360 and if it turns into a pain to keep it working then that'll make my decision for me and I'll have to move on.

Re: If you had 1 choice, PS3 or Xbox 360?
Ok Im need of some help with all the Tech stuff about the 2 console's.
Which is more powerful?
Which will produce the best games?
A game on both consoles but which looks and play's the best?
How does the online play like on PS3?
Are there any know problems with the PS3?
I know PS3 haven't got many game's now, and a few not very good, but given the time 360 has had will PS3 game's be on the same level or higher?
If you had £500 and no console which would you buy and what game's?
Which is better value for money?
Also
Which is more likely to last longer.........mmmm

Re: If you had 1 choice, PS3 or Xbox 360?
Hmm, I dislike these "whats better?" debates because there is no definitive answer.

However the question is, that if I had one choice what would I go for? Well the answer will always be the 360.

The 360 in the year and a bit I've owned one has provided some amazing entertainment for me and my friends, and some of the best gaming experiences I've ever had. For the 360 there are many plus points: The controller (with rumble) I'll always prefer over the PS3 one, the Live service is really brilliant, the achievements system means I spend hours more than I would usually, just to get a higher score.

The major negative is its reliability.

The PS3 - more powerful, have blu-ray, and it more reliable. However it is really expensive for a system - 3 times that of the 360!? And so far hasn't done anything to outshine the 360 yet.

However the PS3 does have a bright future.

In terms of games - the PS3 and 360 will both share some amazing games, and both will have decent exclusives. Its a difficult decision - but ask yourself have you really enjoyed the 360 experience so far? If you have, then why worry?

Re: If you had 1 choice, PS3 or Xbox 360?
Great post Libertine, I completely agree (I love the 360pad, Live is great, achievements are a brilliant idea) although the ps3 isn't 3x as expensive?! (xbox 360 is £250ish, ps3 £425 but with that much noted blu-ray and larger hard disk)

Right now, the 360 is THE machine of the moment, with more releases all the time as it gets in it's stride. The ps3, is expensive and so far underwhelming, but this christmas it'll roll out more games that you know will match the 360 and it has the greater potential. If you wanted something that can do great things in the future and has the blu-ray, then ps3 it is, but great games right now are on the 360.

I stand by what I've said before, the 360 is brilliant for all the reasons Libertine says but the ps3 will undoubtably be great soon too, it's just early days. I may seem to be overreacting, but having had my 360 go wrong and looking at the problems others have had online, I feel the decision has been forced upon me early, and I feel the reliability problem could be too costly for me to ignore. With a working 360 and none of the known issues I wouldn't need to consider a ps3, but now I'm fed up with it and just want to change.

Funky, you have to decide what's most important to you - continuing to play great games on the 360, knowing it could go wrong again and the hassle that brings, but enjoying owning the console of the moment, knowing you've got great times ahead too. Or change to ps3, play most of the same games, potentially better ones in future too, but paying a high price as an early adopter although hopefully more confident in the life of the machine. Either decision means great games and meeting good people online.

Re: If you had 1 choice, PS3 or Xbox 360?
Nice Comments guy's.... now you really Peeed me off!

I love the 360... but since ive got my new one im just soooo parniod that it's going to go wrong again. I keep checking if it heating up, about the noise's it makes.

I know the PS3 is gonna be big soon, so not sure weather to jump ship now or just see out my 360.

tomorrow (monday) is the last day of my 7 day return, for gamestation. So i can still take back my 360 and trade in my games and harddrive and maybe have just a little to pay extra to get a PS3. after this i can only take back if something is wrong with it.

Which machine is more likely to produce the best game's/graphic's/AI/playablity/lastabilty/ and which is going to be the most FUN?

Thats a hard question. Games wise the 360 and PS3 are going to be largely similar.......however looking at future releases the 360 still for me looks the best....improved Virtua Fighter 5, Bioshock, Halo 3, Gears of war 2 etc.... However please don't take my word - being a 360 gamer (lol nice pun!), I'm bound to be biased.

Try out PS3 gaming websites have a look and compare games to the 360, go for the console that has more of the games your prefer/looking forward too.

Re: If you had 1 choice, PS3 or Xbox 360?
If you still feel paranoid and worried after a week then that suggests to me that you've lost your confidence in the machine like me. There's no magic answer as to which is the best etc, and both will have many similar games, but if you are still worried like I said, then that has to mean something. I guess the best answer could be to return the 360 today while on your 7day money back thing, and swap to a ps3 and try it. You'll get 7 days to try that too wouldn't you to see what you think? If no good, you could always go back to the 360 a week later!! Ask yourself this question, are you nervous of the ps3 route because the lack of games so far? Cos you know they'll be more and they should be as good as 360 if not potentially better in future. If you and I were having these problems at christmas with all those new releases, then I think you'd be more confident if you made the switch. The best thing in my opinion, and hence what I'm doing, is having a few months off to do my diy etc and then hope to get the ps3 when it's a bit cheaper (I hope!) near christmas!
