NHL 2k7
Yes its that time of year again where both EA and 2K Sports release their new batch of Sports titles for the world to enjoy. So, how does NHL 2k7 rate among them you may ask? Well...

AGONY OF CHOICE
OK, so I've made a profile and chose my favourite team and I'm presented with 3 choices. Cinemotion - Music, Cinemotion - Commentary and Traditional. What is Cinemotion? Quite simply, Cinemotion is an ingenious concept which involves having a more dynamic camera view during the game. The camera sits at one end of the ice and zooms in and out depending on intensity. Now, couple this with a movie-esque filmscore, you have Cinemotion - Music. With the music option selected you hear on-ice sounds, crowd chatter and chants and the music score and nothing more making it unique in its manner. Cinemotion - Commentary links the dynamic camera view with intuitive commentary from some guys called Bob Cole and Harry Neale.

GETTING INTO THE GAME
The most noticeable feature in the game, for me, is the graphical upgrade over its predecessor. To see your team march out onto the ice after the virtual GM has given them a pep talk seems almost realistic. The players actually look like the real players. So realistic in fact that you may very well be able to count the number of teeth they have left. So after drooling over the graphical cut-scenes I get into the game. The controls are responsive and smooth, plus hitting people now seems so much more vicious than before. The old 'One Timer' trick now seems to have been dumbed down a bit. Like many of the other NHL titles that came before, you could rack up numerous goals with One Time shots in quick succession, however the Goalie AI has been improved to stop you from doing this as often. It makes it so much more interesting on and offline because you have to work for your goals

SO WHAT ELSE IS THERE?
With a multitude of unlockable, featuring classic teams, jerseys, logos and arenas, NHL 2k7 should keep you occupied for a fair amount of time, if you intend to unlock them all. Similarly, you have Party Mode, which is a great feature. You can play with 3 other players in this crazy mode doing all sorts of mini games including, my favourite, Freeze Tag where you basically have to hit the living daylights out of each other as many times as possible within a time limit. There is also an in-depth franchise mode to enjoy as well as create-a-team options, so you can build your own local team up.

OVERALL OPINION
Well, I'm going to be a tad biased, because I'm a hockey fan, but in my humble opinion this game rates a whopping 8.5/10.
+Excellent Cut-Scene and In-Game Graphics
+Cinemotion Music is an ingenious idea
+Still got the brilliant Mini-Games

-Classic Teams still need renaming to be accurate
-No Dream Team Ladder this year
