Re: GEARS OF WAR
Ok, this seems as good a place as any.

GoW or Viv Pinata? I have probably enough dollar for one game this Xmas.

Re: GEARS OF WAR
thats tricky because they are so different. im looking forward to getting pinata for christmas but im sure i would take GoW given the choice. im also a bit worried that rob's went off it after 6 days. i can see me playing GoW for ages. by the way hooligunn seems to be doing well on it, he's nearly maxed out the acheivements already.

RE: GEARS OF WAR
On a HD TV the speech is fine. (dont give me that not everyone can afford a HD TV speech because they can!!) It is the best game i have ever played and iv been around since the spectrum zx 28k days!! It deserves a 10/10 if you ask me..
Playing on live is very addictive, i love stomping on heads especially when its an american player!! and everyone usually plays as a team..

GREATEST GAME EVER...

Re: GEARS OF WAR
Ok, here's my frank assessment on GOW after getting it for christmas, I'm sure some will disagree!

Good - graphics great, sound great, looks cool

Bad - plays no better than average shooting game and while fun, brings nothing new and is repetitive

Overall - great fun but not the amazing game I was led to believe - I think 360 gamer got it spot on with 8/10 - it's well worth playing, but doesn't MAKE you play it cos it's so damn good like a Zelda game or a Goldeneye. Without the graphics and sound to add atmosphere, I genuinely believe the gameplay would score no better than 6 or 7/10.

Re: GEARS OF WAR
I was getting a bit bored with the linearity of CoD3, and was looking forwards to playing this as I was given it at christmas. I was expecting an opening ten minutes that I would never forget, but to be honest was more inpressed with the Saving Private Ryan scene from Medal of Honor on the PS2.....

Gameplay is ok and I've not yet seen the liniarity of CoD3 but for me the Jury's still out.... guess it's still a case of divided opinions, even on here.

Haven't been online yet so can't comment. I don't think my online FPS skills are up to scratch... (it was practically suicide for the 20 mins I endured on CoD. Might change my tag to cannon fodder.)

Re: GEARS OF WAR
I'm glad I'm not the only one. It's fun and I'm glad I've got it to play, but it doesn't get my undivided attention and some of it is distinctly average. I'm only on Act 3 so I may be complaining too early, but so far the "lead the moster through the doors" bit was basic, the car driving was no better than any other game, and the mine shaft bit was pointless. The shooting action's cool but I've done that on other games so I guess the wow factor is lost on me. I'm now disappointed to read the review of Lost Planet and see that isn't the amazing game I was hoping for either...

Come on Turok! Surprise us all!

GoW is best played on LIVE with a few mates, it's great fun and you can have such a laugh chainsawing your mates up!!! Smile

RE: GEARS OF WAR
I didnt like it when I first started playing it as I couldnt get used to the 3rd person perspective, but obviously duck and cover options would be limited without it. Anyway, I played quite a few games online and got the impression (a) that id been given a dodgy gun whose chainsaw didnt work and (b) an underpowered gun that I can shoot someone in the face twice then get split in half as they get a lucky shot. I didnt like it.

I left it a day or 2 then went back to single player, learnt how to chainsaw a bit better, learnt the fast reload and perfected my duck and dodge skills. I think im pretty okay at it now. The online games do get annoying when you get the same old people racing for the sniper rifle and picking everyone off from half a mile away (not fun) much funnier sneaking up and placing a grenade on someone.

One massive downside ----- too easy too short (in normal mode) I played it boxing day and if i put all the hours id played GOW in 1playr mode since I say it took me 4 hours to complete.

Dont let any wise guy tell you that in the harder modes its more challenging and the proper game - Its just more annoying, instead of dodging and covering you will get a locust headshotting you first time , then you restart a while back and get killed in the same place, gets too tiresome too quickly. Try luring the bezerker outside just for your computer controlled buddy to run straight into the bezerker and get killed - restart please !. I enjoyed it , but not as much as i enjoyed completing COD2.

Ill end now because ill probably shed a tear for the mess that was called COD3 online................bad bad mistake, should have been called battlefield1939 or something, very bad, very annoying and I hated it !

Re: GEARS OF WAR
Completed Gear Of War. I really enjoyed it - the Graphics, Sound are really just stunning, and its good fun to play.

I did think the game was way to short, and I didn't really have a clue of what was going on in the story, but I can't wait to replay it in co-op mode.

Roll on Gow2!

Re: GEARS OF WAR
Gears of war, one of the best games ever, to me anyway, i've loved every minute of single player, started on casual then went back to it on Insane..! Must admit, i did find it a bit more tricky, yes the locust can now take you down with a single shot, but instead of you being able to take them with one, it normally take 3 shots with the Longshot...!( unless you get the perfect head shot...! Which i feel is one of the most satisfying parts of the game..! ) It did how ever get very annoyin when it came to General Raam..! Must of taken me hours to kill him..!
Online its alot different, i consider myself very good on single and possibly co-op, but online games i just seem to lose it, Could be because i'm not sure on some of the maps or just cos i forget what to do, i'm hopin to give it some serious play time soon, so i'm hopin to get alot better..!
On a whole, GoW is graphically the best i've seen, and the plot makes future follow ups very attractive. I never thought that HALO would have a serious rival, but this is gonna be it...!
Look out Master Chief, Marcus Fenix and the Cole Train are coming....!

Resistance is Futile......!
