Left 4 Dead Demo.
Has anyone else played this? Downloaded it this afternoon, and will now DEFINITLY be getting it on release. Pretty good graphics, intense atmosphere, and even when not being rushed by zombies, still a good sense of dread. What do others think?

RE: Left 4 Dead Demo.
The chapters (at least in the demo) seem a bit short.

Really great fun, to make sre we all get it at the same time I'm waiting until Christmas sales.

Not much point if you don't have definite co op buddies though.

RE: Left 4 Dead Demo.
I though the demo was pretty ace.

I played the non online co-op version of the games a few times and while other games I've played have heralded intelligent spawning and random enemy locals to make every playthrough different, this is the first time I actually felt that change. Out of the 3 or 4 games I played, each had different choke points and action zones, so I can see that having a lot of appeal.

On the other hand, the chapters did indeed seem to be very short, and you could only select 2 of 5 chapters in the create game option, so does that mean the game will only have 5 short levels ?

And totally agree with you Dill, this is an absolute MUST for definite co-op buddies.

Don't know if anyone picked up on it, but there are options in the pause menu to kick out co-op players, whether they be disruptive or offensive, but I can quickly see that being a very elitist option. Imagine jumping into an advanced quickmatch with 3 other players, you're not as good as they are, so they all vote you out - that would be shit.

But I can see this game being an absolute blast with friends, and a very good game to play to hook up with some decent gamers.

I do want this game, but at the same time, I've been playing a lot of the Mirror's Edge demo again, and I just don't know which one to go for.

Man, this year has been great !

RE: Left 4 Dead Demo.
Gonna download this tonight.

One of my mates has been going on about this for ages - i think he pre-ordered it in June or something daft!

Is it very different from Dead Rising?

RE: Left 4 Dead Demo.
Yes. Much faster gameplay/zombies for one, and a heightened sense of terror. Whereas Dead Rising was very cartoony, this has a much grittier "real" feeling to it.

RE: Left 4 Dead Demo.
Hell yes !

these aren; the lumbering brainless zombies of old, but the scary sprinting style as seen in 28 Days later and it's terrible sequel, 28 Weeks Later.

It's terrifying at moments, especially when a boomer (hope that's right) spews slime on you, and a horde of zombies break the sound barrier trying to get to you.

It's an intense fight from the start of the level to the finish.

RE: Left 4 Dead Demo.
My only problem with the game is that Normal is easy to the point of being boring, and Expert, even with all 4 characters controlled by humans, is absolutely solid. I don't think we've beaten that final stand off once. We all end up with about 20 health and just get destroyed.

The Witch might be my favourite new villain of the year though.

RE: Left 4 Dead Demo.
What's the deal with the witch anyway ?

I encountered her only twice and she seems to be invincible.

Both times she ripped straight into me and my team mates never got to me in time.

RE: Left 4 Dead Demo.
She kills you instantly, I'm not sure whether you can kill her or whether you just have to lose her. It's better to just sneak past her, but the tension created by her noise or seeing her in the corneris brilliant.
