Import tuner review

Need for speed, Grand turismo and Midnight club, all popular customisable racers but now theres a new one on the block Import Tuner. First impresions of theis game is that it is going to be a good racer as it introduces you to a menu full of options and modes to play. So you start of on quest, a career type mode where you start from unown cruiser to the king racer of tokyo. Starting the quest you will be shown a showroom where you will find a garage full of clasic and new japanise cars ranging from toyotas to skylines.

So you have chosen your car you will go to your first race a quick one to introduce you to import tuners style of races. From here you will be able to mod up and change the settings of your ride and buy new cars. After this you can go to the map and find races. This is where all hope of a good game disapears. The map is just one circuit, one circle road which takes less than 5 minuits to get round. Within this circuit are racers who you have to defeat to progress in the game and earn money. So after being unimpresed by the map and after the first few races you realise the game isnt going to get better, the races are verry hard for someone new to the game, It takes atleas a hour to understand how to actualy win the races. This is because import tuners based on one style of race all the way through, what happens is you and your oponent have 2 meters. The aim is to get the oponets down to zero before yours does, you can achieve this by making the oponent crash or by taking a big lead and then it gradualy wears down the oponents barier. Its a new style and is ok at first but it does bore you after say 5-10 races (as the races are mostly bassed on luck) but try having to put up with it for 120+ races! without that being bad the only other races are 1 on 1s but there is only about 10 of them throughout the game.

So after realising that you know tht this game is going to be teribly boring. after some hours play you then realise that you would have had more fun watching that 50 quid being flushed down the toilet. This being because when you get into the game you realise how much of a crap job the developers did on this game, things being the lazyness of the maps graphic wise, and many other things like the repetivnes the game runs through; like if theres a pedestrian car in you either overtake on the other side of the road or crash. So basicly there no unexpacted hapenings or having to dodge several cars, theres just the odd one. Another crap job is the work they did on the cameras you can have wile driving, theres behind, in the car, or at the bonet. These cameras are hideos, the behind camera complely blocks what is ahead so you have to pland a few seconds ahead and hope. Then theres the interior camera, this is the mos uglyest camera ive ever seen. the features like the dashboard arnt worthy of ps1 graphics let alone next gen technoligy. When in this view you can look left and right around with the right stick but still then it is all shaken delayed and distorted. The only camera left is the front camera, the one i hate but this is the only one i believe you could play with becuse atleast you can see whats ahead of you. Thats alot on the cameras but it shows how much litle efort they put into the game. The graphics are terible in import tuner too, blockey, boring and a complete pile of poo which im close to saying i would rather look at than playing this game. This game could have been good as the Japanise racing scene is a hot topic within racing and there could have a sucessfull game, but its not, end off. Crap crap mega crap. Ultirubishimo.


Overal this game is crap, dont bother. Me being the first to know as ive played every customisable racer sinse ps1 and none have been this bad. Infact go out get a ps1, Grand turismo 2 and save 30 quid ontop. Seriously though this game is only worth geting for achivments which even them are a waste of time as with 5-10 hours i still havent got any. GMF is unhapy with this game, it was meant to be my game to play over the christmas holidays but now its just ruind them. Import tuner SHAME ON YOU!!!!
