The Last Movie You Saw....

RE: The Last Movie You Saw....
Iron Man 3

Right, first off I want to say that I really enjoyed this movie, and the even though this post is going to be mainly on big rant (or that's how it feels at the moment) I would recommend it to anyone, it is good, fun and action Iron Man/Tony Stark film.

but The thing that bugged me the most, and I mean the most, out of everything is that at the start it came up as "Iron Man Three"..... Now this may not look like much to most people, but I was seething about it for quite a while.... Do these people not know it is Iron Man 3, NOT THREE, 3!!

Right, not that's over...

the only other annoyances come due to the fact that I have read a few of the comics.

"The Mandarin"
If you have read a reasonable amount of the IM comics you should know who The Mandarin is a "super villain", not the character that he is in IM3. In Mandy's (this is what Iron Man calls the Mandarin in the comics when talking to or about him) first appearance there was a shot of his hand, which showed him wearing rings on his fingers, any one who knows him from the comics will know what these are, this caused me to get quite excited for the rest of the film, but it turned out that it was just a reference. While I disliked the character that Mandy had been cast as, it doesn't do the actual character any justice, for the role that he played, I think it was cast/played well.

"Happy Hogan"
Another one of "If you have read the comics this will piss you off" I'm not sure what the though of changing Happy's character to that was but, again, it doesn't do the actual character justice. Again it is probably just dropping stuff in to keep the fans happy, but there are so many ways that you could have made Happy different and it have not irritated me. Though I have just noticed that Happy was in the previous films and was most probably casting the same character, but as I hadn't read the comics at that point it didn't bother me.

over all it was a fantastic film, My Wife said that it was the best Iron Man film so far.

I highly recommend it.

So Hogan has a bigger role you mean ?

I know Jon Favreau plays Hogan, and he directed the first 2 movies, could it be he did some behind the scenes wrangling to get a bigger slice of the action since he wasnt directing this time round ?

I wouldn't say that he had a bigger role....

If you compare HH from the comics to HH from the films, they are almost completely different characters, just the name (and possibly job title) is the same.

For instance HH in the comics is an ex-boxer.... I really can't see the HH from the films being related to any sport at all (except maybe darts)

Actually Jon Favreau does have some MMA training. Granted this may not count as it was in Friends where he played a rich billionaire who got his butt kicked in UFC

RE: The Last Movie You Saw....
He does seem to throw a fair few punches in the last two films (and he was Tony's sparring partner in Iron Man 2)

Whip it

A film about roller derby, not I have a vague recollection about hearing it after reading the roller derby bit in Bizzar mag AGES ago, but didn't really take any notice of it, but I watched it today, and I much say.....

IT'S AWESOME!!

now, Ellen Page is in it so that instantly gives it thumbs up, because quite frankly, she is amazing and I haven't seen her in a bad film.

Basic rundown is:

Bliss (Ellen) is a shy girl who under the regime of her mother goes and does beauty pageants (not honey Boo-Boo style) but she doesn't really like it, when out buying some new (walking) boots a trio of the roller derby girls come in and put some flyers on the counter, she takes one and her and her friend go to see the derby. As you would expect after the derby she goes to a practice session and she gets in. What follows is a brilliant film of Bliss finding her feet and confidence and Kicking some ass as should be done in RD.

I suggest you find it and watch it.

but for now I will leave you to trailer...

Yeah, I thought it was really good, though that could have been the combination of Ellen Page and Roller Derby...
