Torchwood: Miracle Day
Been watching the news drip through about this one for a while, but I finally saw a trailer today.
http://news.drwho-online.co.uk/Torchwood...ailer.aspx It all looks very pretty and big budget. I just hope it hasn't lost what made it Torchwood by 'Americanising' too much. Fingers crossed. ![]()

RE: Torchwood: Miracle Day
Hmmm. Really liked Torchwood, but thought it had it's run. The 456 was excellent, but I was also glad it ended before it got too stupid.
Still, I do agree; this looks like it could be good. ![]() "Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful." - Seneca the Younger (4 b.c.- 65 a.d) |

RE: Torchwood: Miracle Day
I was half way through season one which was pretty good, apparently i read the series goes a bit awry after some Inca girl or goddess or something so i stopped watching for a while, mainly want to watch the 3rd series so ill watch "cough" download the other episodes soon....Eve Myles Is one of my fave actresses - those outside wales wont have seen her in the Welsh drama "Belonging" - which she was superb in. I will say though...some of the overt "gayness" does make me squirm.

RE: Torchwood: Miracle Day
In Torchwood ?
That's one of the reasons why I gave up on it. I don't mind gay folk, I let you kiss it once retro, but the whole IT'S OK TO BE GAY SO WE PUT IT IN OUR SHOW TO SHOW THAT IT'S OK AND IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT YOU'RE RACIST approach to it all. In all honesty, I hate it equally as much when they push male/female relationships in things too, because everything needs some kind of romatic entanglement to make it better, right studio bosses ? Interestingly, for those who love their Torchwood, BBC Radio 4 seems to have done a run of Torchwood episodes this week, you can get them all on the iPlayer.

RE: Torchwood: Miracle Day
I find romance works best as in the "chemistry effect" the whole mulder and scully or Dawn and Tim from the office...as in the will they wont they thing..
The whole cheapness even of making nearly every other character gay or bi is just unrealistic. Obviously the barrowmans and the Russell ts love it but it really makes me kind of uncomfortable knowing that there are people out there that think all gay people will kiss anything that moves or can choose when they want to kiss the opposite sex then go back to being gay... Like i said the only reason ill watch it is for Gwen

Might want to try again as that doesn't ring a bell. The 'Gayness' issue isn't as bad as you think. I think Russell T laid it on thick in the beginning with every character getting it on with someone of the same sex at some point, but it was almost like he was getting it out there so it didn't have be an issue when the Jack/Ianto romance started. It had all calmed down halfway through series one (apart from the episode 'Captain Jack Harkness' which pushed it too far into unbelievability) and beyond the aforementioned relationship there really wasn't much in series two. Children of Earth is widely regarded in Sci-Fi Geek circles, experts and fans alike, as one of the best Sci-Fi series EVER. And I'd agree. It was a brave story, touching subjects that no one has ever really tackled before and made choices that still today have left fans stunned. I have no doubt that Torchwood has been largely forgotten by the British public now due to the fact that as a nation, we don't get Sci-Fi unless it's Doctor Who. Luckily the Americans still see it's worth and STARZ have produced this which gives me hope that it'll retain it's original character and not be Americanised too much. They're behind one of my favourite shows recently: SPARTACUS BLOOD & SAND and it's prequel GODS OF THE ARENA. Great shows that benefit from US money but still feels much more international than their peers. ![]()

RE: Torchwood: Miracle Day
Ah, that explains it.
![]() Yeah I'm not a huge fan of Cyberwoman. It's a weak attempt to tie in Torchwood with Doctor Who. The best episode of series one is 'Countrycide'. If you haven't seen that yet I won't drop any spoilers. ![]()
