Exclamation Power to the People!
Yeah! My first post . . WOOP! id like to say Hello to you all involved here on the forum and in the magazine ^^

A Few months of months back On my weekly outing to have a look in my local rental store for either a good rental or a couple of good games up for grabs. i spotted an offer of 2 preowned games for £30 which were Alan wake and Street Fighter 4.

After paying for these i rushed home on the Friday evening and put Alan Wake in my xbox which played perfectly but the copy of Street fighter 4 didnt work. So about an hour after this i went back to the shop were i told them that the copy of Street Fighter 4 didnt work and told them that the copy of Alan Wake was an ok copy which i wanted to keep. So they should of refunded me £15 right? . . . WRONG! . . Insted i got £12.50!!

I asked why i couldnt get my £15 back and they said it was because the game was now Pre-Pre-owned and thats all they were going to give me.

But after a lenghty email and a few phone calls later i managed to get my £2.50 back and for my troubles, they offered me free rentals for a month.

But I wonder if this happens alot to other people because i cant be the only one this has happened too . . ?

RE: Power to the People!
I'm surprised you got that to be honest.

If it was a 2 for £30 offer generally that means they will individually price each game at about £20 each. In other words by returning just ONE of the two games shops are within their rights to only reimburse you the difference (i.e. £10) so that it balances out that you paid the individual price for Alan Wake. What you've managed to do is get away £5 off a game.

Well done. Big Grin

RE: Power to the People!
Another thing which i wanted to bring up was not too long back, a day before the release of the Escalation DLC for Call Of Duty: Black Ops and i was in the same store which i bought the games from in my first post, So that i could buy some MSP ready for the DLC out on the following day. While waiting in the que to be served i noticed that they sold at three copies of the special Call Of Duty 1200 MSP to three people under the age of 18. Now i first thought that it was ok for them to do so as well its only MSP right?

But . . upon closer inspection of the box which the points come in, i come to realise that it has an age certificate on it is 18. So again i sent them an email of what happened and this is what they had sent back . . .

We regret that our store staff showed poor judgment in handling the situation, and we are taking appropriate action to avoid a recurrence. Our employees are not trained to sell rated 18 products to minor's, and in no way does this reflect how we conduct business in our stores.

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. Rest assured that this will be forwarded for corrective actions. We've built our company on customer service and satisfaction, and we take notice any time our reputation is compromised.

So if your out and about and stores are selling this product to people under 18 . . . Then they cant.

The funny thing is that the store in question is one of the biggest rental stores out.

Blockbusters were always cocks to work for. Employing people on minimum hour contracts doing maximum hours no breaks lone working...you try refusing a guy that looks 16 an 18 yr old video onyour own...not fun. Free rentals etc whoop e doo..i lasted 3 months and thought shit company...that was early 90 though. Upsell the popcorn with the video. Manager came in three times a week, never weekends..we had to do all the chasing of late videos, customer brought them back-thats 22pounds to pay-fuck you-.

Im suprised blockbuster is still surviving in the current download climate.
Oh if its not blockbuster you were referring too then i can only assume theyre like them too.

RE: Power to the People!
Blockbusters are bastards.

Every DVD I've had rented from them, I've had to rewind first to be able to watch it.

Cocks.
