Having watched all the interviews today which included several replays of the incident I too think it was a bit harsh as the only reason a car was able to go past him before he spun back around was that he had already drove slightly forward to start his spin, had he stayed where he was then they too would have taken Diresta's line.

I mean "biting in" as in if the track were dry, along with the spin he performed, he would have carried some forward motion in the direction of the spin.

Doing so on a wet track means it's slippier, so you can pivot on one point when performing a corrective spin.

Di Resta had no idea if Hamilton would have lurched forward during that spin, so he had to take appropriate action to avoid him.

Plain and simple, Hamilton pulled an unsafe move into oncoming traffic and caused another driver to go off the track. If Alonso had done that and got away with it, I reckon this thread would be very different indeed.

I can honestly say, if it were Alonso, any driver for that matter in this situation I would still find a drive through harsh. Nothing to do with the fact that it was Hamilton.
