The rumour mill says it's not even as powerful as the 360, not much 'Next Gen' going on there then...

The Wii wasn't much more powerful than a PS2. Nintendo have approached the 'next generation' with the idea that the future lies in innovation rather than bettering what has come before.

Given the success of Wii, can you honestly say they're wrong?

So, behind the Back to the Future score, do I detect that Nintendo have adopted similar (if not the same) tech as Skylanders for the main unit?

RE: Wii U - another cash cow?
i think a few mentioned skylanders wherby its linked to "toy" model purchases that appear/aid in game.
i like ninteno for innovation and imagination dont get me wrong but the whole history of nintendos last ten years are just Ds after Ds, or Zelda rehashes. i can see people buying a wii u only for 8 months later a revamped coloured or larger screen model etc is released. i know its not aimed at handheld market but it had better be backward compatible right back to gamecube or my wii will still be out.

I'm more concerned about its weight and general dimension. With batteries and a screen, it's going to weigh a fair bit. And it's a big ol' thing by controller standards, too. I think anyone who gets a Wii U might have to quickly become accustomed to holding something heavy in one place for a long time.

Was it just me, or was the skylanders bit a bit, well, tacked on at the end in some kin of fakery way ?

It just didnt seem like it was made at the same time as the rest of the footage.

All them silly little "toys" would get lost in my house in a second!

Even the girl in the video was resting that tablet thing on her kneesSad
