Anyone else been watching?

I became a big fan of the whole series very quickly and am now up to book 4 as well as watching the TV show

Tyrion Lannister has to be one of the best characters ever created!

I was saying that to Gra last week, Tyrion is a fucking legend. What he lacks in stature he makes up for in scheming!

New series is quality, although my enjoyment of last nights episode was marred slightly by the football before it.

How do the books sit with the series, I saw them on offer in Sainsburys but I didn't pick them up because a) I didn't want to ruin the TV show and b) I'd have to spend half my life on the bog to get through them all.

have the 1st dvd series on its way..read all 5 books so far out of 8...he still hasnt written the last couple yet....damn good read......tyrion best bits are to come...my fav has to be jamie...

Isn't Martin dead, and the last few books are being written by someone else, who had to split all the stuff Martin had planned into more than the set number of books he was going to write ?

At least, that's the gist I got from my Tesco delivery guy, and he seemed to know what je was talking about.

No..G.r.r.martin is wayyyyyyyyyy old(63) but not pushing up daisys yet....he took ages to write the 5th book...i think approx 6 years or more...besides he is linked with the got tv series as a script or advisor thingy....

robert jordan from wheel of time series died a while ago & brandon sanderson finished off his last couple of books based on his notes & did a cracking job...& split the last book in 2...the final one memory of light..just being released..which fits with the delivery guys info...

david gemmel also passed away a year ago & his last book was finished by his wife & another writer based on his notes....so i know your delivery driver...is WRONG..sooooooooooo wrong....

are the last 2 books...when he writes em of course... his average speed is 3-5 years per book...so hopefully a) he will be alive to finish em..& b) im alive to read em....

Fuck me, Dredd - the delivery driver from Tesco? There's a reason he's the delivery driver for Tesco and not working at Microsoft or Apple

Dave - thus far the TV show is pretty true to the books. One or two tweaks to make it more TV friendly but on the whole those changes work (and were necessary I think in some respects).

I believe that the end of season 2 will slightly overlap in to 'book 3' so as to make more sense on screen etc

Personally I found reading the books actually make the TV show more appealing as I want to see what they do with the text - thus far I think the casting has been excellent in the main; though I had imagined Craster differently and find Lena Headfacewhatever a bit wooden at times as Cersei
