Bungie has today released the very first actual in-game screenshot of Halo 3, picturing a super-detailed Master Chief holding his sizeable firearm in front of rusty backdrop.
Speaking in the same post that has uncovered numerous other revelations today, the official Bungie.net news poster known as Sketch confirmed that this is all in-game giving a first look at the actual next-gen Master Chief model as he stands today.
“This is an actual screenshot taken from the actual game within an actual campaign level of Halo 3,” Sketch confirms, going on to confirm that this was originally an image for Newsweek magazine, released to give a teaser glimpse of Halo 3.
“When the MGS PR team asked me to give them a new image for an upcoming issue of Newsweek magazine, this is what we came up with,” says Sketch. “It's intentionally not meant to really reveal anything – we just wanted to give a glimpse of the latest Master Chief model.”
Sketch then went on to confirm that the background you can see in the image is from a genuine level within the game that environmental artist Frank Capezutto was working on for the game at that time.
