Things may be looking up for Midway, with rumours suggesting that three companies may be interested in the stricken publisher.
Sources have told Kotaku that three would-be suitors are interested in acquiring the company, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection earlier this year.
The three are said to comprise of a mystery private investor from Chicago, Warner and Ubisoft, with Warner said to be the favourite.
While the identity of the private investor remains unknown, a takeover by either Ubisoft or Warner would make sense.
With Midway in trouble, Ubisoft recently handled the distribution of Vin Diesel’s Wheelman in most major markets, while Warner – which has been trying to bolster its games portfolio – recently lost out to Square-Enix in the race to take over Eidos.
Although Midway hasn’t confirmed anything, discussions with Ubisoft are said to have been ongoing for several weeks now, while one of Warner’s vice presidents is said to have already visited Midway’s offices.
Let’s hope they get it all sorted out soon.
