Just in case there was any doubt that a Van Halen-themed Guitar Hero game is in the pipeline, it seems that Activision has already submitted a copy to the German USK age ratings board for certification.
According to a listing on the USK’s website, a game called “Guitar Hero headlining Van Halen” has been cleared for ages 14 and above, and was certified on 16 April – the same day as the USK certified GH Smash Hits.
Rumours of a GH Van Halen game have been flying around for a while now – and while Activision has yet to officially announce anything, the USK listing all but confirms it’s happening.
Whether we’ll actually see it this year is another matter, although given how crowded the GH schedule is looking – with Metallica due next month, Greatest Hits due this summer and presumably, GH5 set to appear this November – we somehow doubt there’s room for another one this year.
That said, this is Guitar Hero - so never say never, and all that. We’ll ask Activision what’s up a little later today.
