Another week has passed, and it’s time once more for yet another edition of the Warped Weekly Roundup. This week bears no time for introductions as Modern Warfare 3 is mere days away!
News
And speaking of Modern Warfare 3, sign-ups have been officially announced – and even though it has been spoken of before, what’s worth mentioning once is worth mentioning twice: sign-ups for the WGL’s next season and opening Modern Warfare 3 matches will commence on its day of release (that’s 8 November 2011 – for those that are still unsure, shame on you) furthermore the closing date will be Friday, 18 November.
I won’t go into all the details that have recently been announced, but I would like to remind all those that wish to participate in our league that you must meet the minimum roster requirements for your chosen leagues as well as owning a clan website – it doesn’t have to be complex or costly, freebees are more than enough.
Secondly, and I’m sure many of you more avid users will have noticed, the media team in all its glory has created a shiny new feature for all your listening pleasure. A new ‘Clan Spotlight’ video has been uploaded to our YouTube channel, with the aim to become a regular fixture. Think Jeremy Kyle, minus the unplanned child.
Hosted by our very own Scotty ‘too hotty’, this week’s episode features British Assault Team and talks about the clan and its recent successes in the WGL. So be sure to check it out our YouTube channel.
In other news, I would like to remind you of our everlasting, unquestioning mutual bond between the WGL and 360 Gamer magazine (and by extension, www.360-gamer.com) and gesture you all towards your local newsagents to pick up the latest edition, which features a shed load of info on Modern Warfare 3 as well as features on everything else xbox-related.
Now that the boring newsy stuff is out of the way, it’s time for this week’s round-up! And with the first week of FIFA 12 over, its time to see if anything can be gauged this early. But first up is Gears of War which sees its second week of gameplay.
Gears of War – Execution
Premiership
My oh my, after the straight split in the Premiership last week, I was hoping for a little variation this time out. But alas, the split is still very much prevalent, with North South Divide, Muppets with Guns and British Elite Mercenaries all sharing two wins and no rounds dropped this week, resulting in another week of tied league leadership.
To add to the repetition, the bottom three teams – The Footsoldier Clan, Versatile Vision and The Last Shot – still sit joint-bottom, each with no wins and one round claimed. The only teams providing a little variation are Dogs of War and Inglorious as the Dogs, who are currently second, leading ING by +1 round difference. More time is needed, I think.
Division One
Infamous Gaming and Death or Glory both sit join top right now, with two games won and no rounds dropped. Ultimate Xbox Gamers, The Last Shot, British Elite Mercenaries and 420 all share the mid-table, equal on everything except 420, who have lost an extra round. Propping up the division are Xbox Gaming Legends in seventh and Fifth Wall Gaming in eighth, separated by a single dropped round.
Gears of War – Mixed Modes
Premiership
Again, not enough time has passed to distinguish the teams. But nevertheless, results are results, and a table is slowly forming. As it stands, North South Divide sit top with a +4 round difference; in joint second lie Inglorious and British Elite Mercenaries, with all games won and +3 round difference; newcomers Team oWar sit just above The Last Shot, who sit just above The Footsoldier Clan. The last place honours are shared between Next Generation Gamers and Muppets With Guns, who are yet to get a point on the board.
Division One
Finally, an outright leader! At least, technically. Dogs of War sit at the top of the table, clear of second place by an entire game. Due to fixtures though, Versatile Vision are unbeaten and have a game in-hand. Virtual Talent, The Lost Unit, Muppets with Guns and Death or Glory hold the mid-table, sharing a win/loss ratio but split on rounds. Carry on Gaming hold seventh, and Total Revolution lie eighth, despite having already played three of their fixtures.
Division Two
Ultimate Xbox Gamers and BOR7V hold the promotion places and are both yet to drop a round. Infamous Gaming, The Last Shot, British Elite Mercenaries and The Undead Heroes/Intensive Care Unit all share third with no discrepancies. To add to the sharing joy, the final spots are also split, as IXXI and the Hardcore Urban Militia are both without any positivity.
And with Gears 3 out of the way, we now move onto The Beautiful Game and see if anything can be discerned from the first week of WGL FIFA.
FIFA – Singles
Premiership
Zizou is once again setting a precedence in the WGL by winning his opening match convincingly against TLS team mate LoKi. LegenD lies second in what must have been the worst display of defence in football history, winning his game by the hair on his nuts, 6-5 over Hotshots. Nemesis played Revs, which resulted in a one-all stalemate, while Chewie and BS16 have yet to play.
Championship
Dragons Rawr have decided to spread their gaming wings and enter into WGL FIFA and continue their winning form, winning their first tie 4-0. Revz I sit second after winning their game but much less emphatically beating VoF 4-2. Muppets with Guns, The Undead Heors, Bru and Three Sixty Gamers drew all their ties this week leaving the mid-table open. Total Revolution Community prop up the division after losing to DR.
Division One
Nasty Neil, who is attempting to continue last season’s promotion success, has set off with intent, taking the top spot with a 3 – 1 win in his opening game. Devilsniper sits second this week, followed by Hitman and Revz H in third and fourth. North South Divide along with BTF are yet to play, and by default sit in the middle – leaving this week’s losers Potleg and Nightmare Untied in the relegation zone.
Division Two
Badger FC, who has played and won two games all ready, sits at the top of the table, followed by Total Xtreme Gaming. British Task Force also won their opening fixture and lie third on goal difference. Balljoint FC lie comfortably in sixth place above the ‘not so mighty’ M3lmoth, who is joined in the relegation zone by Hotshots. Both Elite Xbox Gamers and 420 are yet to play, and thus are useless.
Division Three
Enter yours truly, who is apparently the only person to have played his fixture this week; tut, tut Division Three. Scorch90er faced off against DangerClose of TUH, resulting in a hard battled 2-2 draw. And since no-one else has played in my division, that’s it for this week for singles.
FIFA – Paris
Premiership
Again, this season’s FIFA is still in its infancy, and in this league only one fixture has played and its result reported. I will have much more to speak of next week, but nevertheless, North South Divide faced off against Hotshots and put them to bed with a comfortable 3-0 win.
Championship
Shagger and Baggins faced off against 420, and in similar fashion to the premiership, 420 were put to bed in a 3-0 loss.
And that’s it for this week! With the Clubs yet to kick off and Modern Warfare 3 mere days away, I am forced to leave you with another half report, unfortunately.
As always, a big thanks for reading. And I hope by now you are all following our Twitter feed and our YouTube channel. And finally - and most importantly - I hope you've registered on our site in time for Modern Warfare 3.
Word to you mothers,
