It’s been a busy week in the Warped Gaming League community with signups closing, rules being decided, recruitment rife and yet more fish!
News
With the signup widow for the Modern Warfare 3 leagues now closed, I’m afraid that if you were wishing to participate, your flat out of time. But on the plus side, it does mean that the rest of you who did register in time can now look forward to your opening matches in just a week or two.
As I type this, the admins are discussing the rule sets and various game modes for all the leagues, and I can assure you that all – and I literally mean all – of your issues that have been published on the forums will be discussed and conclusions will be drawn. So watch our news feed for the latest on that.
Also, we must insist that all clans are sure of their rosters and their players. We had to unfortunately ban several members last season for misconduct. Any team caught playing these players (even under a new name) will be severely punished, so just make sure you know who you have recruited.
And finally, after a few issues last season, it is now a rule within the WGL that you can only represent one team in one game. So if you represent a team in the Mixed Modes you may only represent that same team in the Search & Destroy league (in other words you cannot ‘clan hop’). This does not apply to different games such as FIFA or Gears of War. This is a trail, and will likely be up for review at the end of the season, so let your voice known afterwards if you object.
As hinted at above, the WGL is a very community driven league. So what you guys talk about on the forums, the admins discuss in council. So let your voice be heard! We only ask that you keep it constructive and don’t just post stuff like “CTF is SH*T!!11!.”
A little bit heavy for a community read I know (and for which I apologise), but it’s out the way now – so the talk of fish can begin!
Forum Post of the Week
Yes, friends, this is what we want to see. MajorDrunk has updated his fish tank in his usual exuberant style, and it is now at the stage to rival the tank in Finding Nemo.
When he recently disclosed he bought a Powder Blue Tang and began speaking of “spectacular stripes,” I feared the worse. But after a couple of pics and a quick forum post, I soon realised he was talking about his latest fish. For those of you that don’t know, MajorDrunk is a lover of all things exotic (and I mean all things), and nothing more so than fish. More recently he has added a ‘Cleaning Shrimp’ to his collection do what he can’t be bothered with.
Epic. If you’re as sad as me, click here to see the fish.
Community Talks
With the release of Modern Warfare 3, people have been looking into way to improve their game, and there are two ways to go about it. You can watch our YouTube channel and Mana will tell you stuff that you already knew (and then play you some music), or you can go to our forums and read our product discussions.
This week it has been the latest scuff controllers and headsets. I won’t go into any more detail, as we have thousands of members so you can imagine the number of opinions. If you’re looking to upgrade then head on over to our forums and have a read. You never know, you might learn something.
Recruitment, Recruitment, Recruitment
This time it’s the turn of the old guard with two veteran teams reappearing in the WGL.
OutKast Gaming
After a short break, one of the Old Guard from WGL is reforming and looking to build a community environment with a competitive edge. OKG are an experienced team and know what it takes to compete successfully in the WGL, and will make competing easy for any current free agents. Competitive gaming is a hobby to these lads, and they understand that a 24/7approach is not for everyone, and as a result are adopting a laid back approach to gaming.
They compete in both the FIFA and Call of Duty leagues of the WGL but they are not limited to these two franchises.
– What do they want from you?
The only real limit to your application is that you must own an Xbox 360. OKG are a competitive community, and FIFA and MW3 are just a smidge of the games they play. If you’re interested in joining and are over, 16 then head on over to www.outkastgaming.co.uk.
Art of War
Another WGL reunited group of sorts, Art of War are a veteran title-winning team, and currently hold a WGL first in the shape of a triple-crown winning Search & Destroy and two separate Mixed Mode divisions. Obviously, competition is key to this team and competitive players are wanted but all applications will be accepted. If you are accepted expect a short trial and plenty of play-time with the lads.
– What do they want from you?
As mentioned above, all personalities are accepted – the only prerequisite is a sense of humour, a mature attitude and an Xbox 360. They currently compete in the Call of Duty leagues. If you interested an meet the criteria head on over to www.aowclan.co.uk/home and post up your intentions on the forums there.
Thanks ever so much for reading, and remember to check out our YouTube channel, Twitter feed, COD: Elite group (#theWGL) and of course, our site.
