Girls with eye patches and tentacle arms, giant octopus monsters and an army of nasties waiting to be smacked around – just another average day in the life of Scarygirl. But as Kim Wild discovers, Square-Enix's graphic novel-inspired platform adventure seems to be scary for all the wrong reasons...

It's a scary update for Xbox Live Arcade this week, with the likes of Scarygirl, Haunt and a port of the classic game Doom all being made available for download. Plus, the Deal Of The Week goes Rockstar crazy as the Grand Theft Auto series gets a whole bundle of discounts for you to take advantage of.

Those of you already looking beyond this week's release of Choplifter HD and AMY on Xbox Live Arcade might want to check out the screens and video after the link, as it shows off Scarygirl - next week's XBLA game from Square-Enix and Tiki Games. Considering it's a game about monsters, ghosts and ghouls, we never expected it to look quite so... well, cute.
