Covert murderers, rejoice – you're finally getting the third instalment of the Assassin's Creed franchise you deserve, with Assassin's Creed 3 arriving at the end of October 2012. Good to see Ubisoft sneaking that date out through an investor conference call...

So, who exactly was it that saved I Am Alive from the chopping block? Was it down to the steely resolve of the development team? An executive whose belief in the game ultimately overruled the need to save a few bucks? Nope, it was us – the fans. And that’s according to Ubisoft Shanghai's creative director Stan Mettra, so it has to be true, right?

It’s been knocking around in one for or another for ages, but it seems that at long last, I Am Alive is on the path to release via the wonders of the Xbox Live Marketplace. And as Mark Podd found out, things aren’t looking too bad at all.
