American politics clawed back a shred of credibility last month when Linda McMahon’s Republican Senatorial campaign came to a screeching halt (losing the general election to her Democrat rival, Richard Blumenthal, who garnered 54.3% of the vote to Linda’s 44.1%). Some of the comedy of that campaign – which cost the McMahons $50 million of their personal fortune – can still be seen at www.linda2010.com. Sadly that’s as much comedy as you’ll get out of WWE these days, because as a televised entity World Wrestling Entertainment is as stale and in need of a makeover as it has ever been.

A couple of years ago, we were fortunate enough to fly to Tokyo to meet up with Taku Chihaya, the vice president and senior creative director of developer Yuke’s. We chatted for ages (via translator, of course), asked all the usual questions and then, once the tape had stopped rolling, made the suggestion that since the series had reached a peak, maybe it was time to have a year off and spend some time coming up with a fresh approach. Being a humble Japanese man, Chihaya-san looked nervously at the floor, then at the PR person behind us and admitted that sadly, “THQ probably wouldn’t let us do that.” We both shared a smile over that one.

Confirming reports during the aftermath of THQ’s collapse, Take-Two Interactive will be making WWE titles going forward. But will we get a WWE game in 2013 – and will Take-Two’s deal even be exclusive?

That has to be some kind of a record, doesn't it? A total of seven games have arrived on Xbox Live Arcade this morning as part of the weekly update, although to call them new would be a mistake - mainly because six of them are games that were around when we were young. Not that we're complaining, of course, but anyone looking for titles that take advantage of the 360's hardware might be a little disappointed...

It might not be due on the shelves until 25 November, but this hasn’t put THQ off announcing a second wave of DLC for WWE ’12.

Online retailer Play.com has picked up the exclusive rights to the People’s Edition of WWE ’12, which is due to launch next month.
