While the clear blue skies and brightly coloured surroundings might fool you into thinking that Bioshock Infinite won't be able to match the dark and oppressive atmosphere of its predecessors, the truth is that Irrational Games' next big outing gets it scares in other ways. Take the video below, for instance, which introduces a new enemy to the Infinite fold… and yes, it's frankly more terrifying than anything else we've seen in the game so far.
Of course, you might think that scares aren't really scares unless there's blood and gore involved – you know, the kind of that games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill dish out without even thinking. However, you'd be wrong. The original Bioshock, which we played through again only recently, is frightening in a creepy/disturbing way that's infinitely more scary… no pun intended. And so it is with Bioshock Infinite too, which takes a seemingly idyllic setting and turns it into something horrible by having mechanised waxworks of former US presidents stalking you with an oversized minigun.
Yes, that scares the bejesus out of us.
Check out the full video to see Irrational's thinking behind such a creation – we're already wondering what other nasties they've got lined up between now and Infinite's release in October.
