The next Ninja Gaiden game is to be exclusive to the Xbox 360, according to reports from within the Korean specialist games press.
So Gamespot.kr is reporting, “well informed sources” have confirmed the game – tentatively called Ninja Gaiden 2 – is to be unveiled at the Tokyo Game Show on 20 September and is to be a 360 exclusive.
On the one hand, this isn’t overly surprising. Although it’s not mentioned whether it's Tecmo’s crack Team Ninja that will be working on the game or not, given that the team has always enjoyed a strong relationship with Microsoft it’s hardly surprising that the game will be a 360 exclusive.
Nevertheless, we feel PS3 owners have the right to feel slightly miffed by all this, not the least because Ninja Gaiden Sigma – essentially a beefed up port of the Xbox Ninja Gaiden – has performed so well since release, with Tecmo recently announcing that some 500,000 copies of the game have shipped since launch, with downloadable content still to come.
Of course, until Tecmo formally announces anything, we’ll be taking this with a pinch of salt. Nevertheless, the Tokyo Game Show should reveal all when it kicks off on 20 September.
